Call it a "Gut instinct."

Well, it's been nearly 7 months since I started this blog, and here I am only at my 2nd post?! Let's just say I haven't been twiddling my thumbs! We've had Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Years, and a slew of Birthdays. I've lost weight through implementing a few small changes; I lost a total of 16 lbs from November to January. Along with my weight loss, in January also came a slew of health issues that hit me unexpectedly. I went from being diagnosed with poly cystic kidney disease, to fighting to keep my gallbladder against every bit of medical advice I was given (at the hospital,) all in the matter of a week. I continued to have pain for a good month following, which was finally traced back to my kidneys; my left one more specifically, which is said to be quite a bit larger than my right. I say all of that, to bring you up to today, when I begin my journey towards complete healing of my gut. I have heard it said that the gut (the bowel, the colon, whatever you choose to call it,) is the 2nd brain of our body. It has also been proven that 70-80% of our immune function is determined by our gut. As I seek to heal my gut, I believe I am going to experience healing in many other areas as well. I believe the same for Will. He and I are taking the same steps in our journey, walking hand in hand through this together:

Step 1. - Going through a 5-day bowel detox; our chosen detox: Dr. Schulze's: https://www.herbdoc.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=17&Itemid=38&cid=38
Step 2. - We will be going on the Gut and Psychology Syndrome diet (GAPS) using the GAPS guide as our source of instruction: http://gapsdiet.com/
Step 3. - We'll have a better idea once we are finished with steps 1 &2
